Riding unsupported is something many of us have done in the past. Especially for more experienced riders. However for the vast majority of adventure motorcycle owners, travelling into remote regions with a fully loaded motorcycle is a risk that should be carefully considered, and may not be worth taking. 

Last year there were five adventure rider fatalities in South Australia alone. This year, all states are expecting an increase in adventure rider fatalities.

While the physical consequences can be serious, even life threatening, there are also financial consequences of riding remote that need to be considered. Recovery of your machine and gear for break down or accident, can exceed $5000 in remote regions. Most riders are unaware and unprepared for this.

Riding with mates can also provide a false sense of security. Consider your mates ability to administer immediate critical medical assistance, or to transport you to the nearest town, or recover your motorcycle and gear. It’s often not possible when you’re all on motorcycles.

One roo, one lapse of concentration or one hot corner, can quickly turn your adventure of a life time, into a life threatening event.
